Adam’s seagoing experience involved LPG tankers, chemical carriers, bulk carriers, support vessels and ultra-large container carriers. On board these he sailed in all engineering ranks from dual cadet up to chief engineer, including the ranks of cargo / refrigeration officer and electrical technical officer. His experience since coming ashore includes UK flag / port State control officer with the MCGA, a senior global technical position with a major shipping carrier and an engineering consultancy role with a major London firm. During the latter, he underwent expert witness and cross examination training and subsequently attended several arbitrations both in London and overseas. Most recently, he has qualified as an IMCA inspector and has conducted a number of CMID audits throughout Europe and USA.
Chief Engineer Consultant BSc
Previously he served on a variety of vessels up to and including Chief Engineer. During his time with McAusland Turner he has carried out numerous P&l and H&M investigations on many ship types including extensive involvement in major failures and repair disputes, both in the United Kingdom and overseas. He has also acted as marine warranty surveyor for various heavy lift projects for major clients and has carried out various types of vessel audits and inspections.
William has also written two books on the role of the Merchant Navy during WWII.
