Glenn Ralston C.Eng

Glenn joined the company in 2018 and is based at our Newcastle upon Tyne office. He is a qualified Chief Engineer and has published various Loss Prevention articles having worked in the Loss Prevention department of North P&I Club for over six years.

Glenn’s surveying career has taken him to Dubai, Houston and more latterly London in an engineering consultancy role. During this time he conducted numerous marine related casualties and acted as an expert witness in both arbitration and mediation proceedings. His appointments have included:

  • Main engine damages, (Catalytic fines, sump contamination with water, fuel pump failures, bearing failures)
  • Generator and governor failures

  • Pre-purchase inspections and records review on tankers

  • Steering gear failure
  • Cargo holds contamination and structural failure
  • Grounding damage assessment
  • Hatch covers inspection and assessment
  • Domestic fuel consumption dispute
  • Cargo hold cleaning dispute
  • New building dispute – Heavy lift, semi-submersible vessels
  • Re-activation survey on FSO Tanker
  • Collision investigation and subsea power cable damage survey

Glenn has appeared on the Tanker Expertise Claim Team, was appointed to the Bunker Sub-Committee of INTERTANKO and represented NORTH on the International Group’s Ships Standards Technical Committee and Surveyors Standards working group.
